My mother was diagnosed with vascular dementia in 2010. This is a blog about coming to terms with her absent mind.

Afternoon Tea

A friend has called round so I've put together a tea tray for them.

'Shall I pour Mum?'

'No it's ok'

Perhaps I should replace the milk seeing as she's just offered Barbara the milk jug topped up with tea...

  1. Just had a catch up. Friggin hilarious. I should take time to read more often. My Gran is also 'semi-detached' I know the repetitive conversation thing down to a tee. I visit every weekend and every time I get 'Oh, aren't you lucky got a day off again'. She's in bed by the time I get home from work, definitely a positive thing. Grandad and I snigger every time I give a different answer to the same question. Gd gets a dirty look for his efforts.

  2. I've started chuntering under my breath. Maybe I should try the different answer each time approach instead!

  3. Different answers each time will probably make you feel better & it won't make any difference to your mum!

  4. I've answered the same question the same way for a hundred times and then tried answering differently, and it became a game of how clever and creative I can be. Sometimes the crazy answers draw looks of "you are definitely crazy". Once she asked what I had been drinking. LOL

  5. I’m truly enjoying the design and layout of your website. It’s a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more pleasant for me to come here and visit more often. Did you hire out a developer to create your theme? Exceptional work! tea
